Sustainability in Action!

Cutting Carbon and Energy Costs Across All Sectors

Reducing energy costs and cutting carbon emissions is important for organisations of all sizes, operating in all sectors.

By installing energy-efficiency improvements and also implementing behavioural change initiatives, the average company can reduce its energy bill by up to 25%.

Lighting

A Brighter, Greener Workplace

We’re excited to share that we’ve taken another step toward a greener future by upgrading our facilities with energy-efficient LED lighting.

This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental footprint. Replacing old, inefficient lighting with LED light fittings is a highly cost-effective method of cutting electricity costs. Typically, the energy cost savings generated by installing LED lighting can repay the upfront cost in under two years as well as improving the quality of lighting in the factory; creating a brighter, more efficient workplace.

Support from Sunderland City Council and BREEZ

Tiger Filtration partnered with Sunderland City Council to secure a 50% grant towards the cost of the project via their BREEZ scheme (Business Renewables Energy Efficiency Sunderland).

Through the BREEZ scheme, Sunderland City Council offers eligible local businesses and community organisations a flexible approach to cutting their energy bills and their carbon emissions.

Quick Turnaround, Immediate Impact

Following an energy review by a BREEZ approved contractor, a new LED-lighting design was approved and the project moved ahead quickly. The LED lighting was installed throughout the factory and offices in less than a day.

Employee Perspectives on the Benefits

Daniel Rawinis, Tiger Filtration’s Production Supervisor commented,

“We’re obviously aware of the energy saving impact of these LEDs, but on the shopfloor we’ve really felt the benefits of the improved quality of light and better designed lighting network. For precise manufacturing like ours, high-quality lighting is vitally important, and the new LEDs have definitely helped. The next step for us is to work with BREEZ to look at replacing our gas heaters and boiler with more energy-efficient alternatives. Further down the lines we’re looking at the solar-panels too.”

Building a More Sustainable Future

Small changes add up – and this one has a big impact. We’re proud to be building a more sustainable future for our employees, our community, and our planet.
